Shot Drop comprises alterations and additions to an existing house in Taroona, just south of Hobart, Tasmania. The design takes its cues from the nearby historic Shot Tower, a local landmark once used to manufacture lead shot.
The roof form imagines a large piece of shot dropping onto and deforming a simple roof plane. The resulting geometry folds around an internal courtyard, creating a playful interpretation of the local history while expanding the existing house to provide greater space and amenity for a growing family.
